During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the educational resources of the Department, available in both Greek and English. These resources include books, trails, museum kits, family backpacks, films, and digital applications, all designed to broaden the Department’s outreach activities and engage a larger audience than one might reach in person.
More specifically, participants will interact with one of the Department’s most comprehensive resources: the museum kits, a specially designed educational material that can be used by teachers to enhance lessons in the classroom or in some other cultural setting. Additionally, participants will be introduced to family-focused resources, including backpacks and trails designed for families that visit the Acropolis archaeological site and the Museum.

Games for Adults: Art and the 5 senses

How can we experience art with all our senses?
“Games for Adults”, the popular series of programmes run by the B&E Goulandris Foundation and thallo for persons aged 60+ and persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment, urges participants to interact with modern art and come up with new interpretations of artworks and artists, using the Collection’s works as a starting point.
“Art and the 5 Senses”, that is part of the Games for Adults series, has been designed to create a dialogue between the human senses and the Foundation’s Collection of works by stirring up different memories. The smell of cinnamon meets citrus fruit, soundscapes coexist with melodies from exotic islands and the touch of a cold metal surface alternates with that of warm wood and silk, in a sensory game that is been based on the Collection’s artworks.

Mind and Harmony

“Mind and Harmony” is a musical journey of exploration and wellbeing at the Collection of the B&E Goulandris Foundation that is held in collaboration with seveneleven and the De Profundis Ensemble. Designed so as to boost mental wellbeing, the programme takes place free of charge with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) as part of the SNF-Release Athens grants, within the framework of SNF’s Global Health Initiative (GHI).
The programme is held on the third floor of the Foundation’s permanent Collection, where works by Greek and foreign artists are on display. Music meets theatre, painting and sculpture with participants exploring the art of creation as they take part in individual and group meditation and extraversion activities accompanied by the cello.
The programme has been designed to help with mood improvement as well as boost self-confidence and wellbeing.

Α tour into the delightful world of taste will focus on the origins of the Mediterranean Diet in Greece. The workshop will present the ΕΜΣΤ artistic educational programme 'Co-Wayfarers at EMΣT', which was designed within the framework of the transnational project 'ACROSS GENERATIONS – Learning from art, culture, and one another' of the Goethe Institute.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn methods and practices that, on the one hand, encourage personal interpretations of museum exhibits (contemporary artworks in the case of EMΣT) and, on the other hand, promote dialogue and meaningful communication between people of different generations and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, by participating in the simulation of the creative part of the programme, they will experience how ideas and desires can be transformed and expressed through visual language, facilitating understanding and acceptance.

At ΕΜΣΤ children, teenagers and adults who are on the autism spectrum or have other neurodevelopmental disorders have the opportunity to cultivate skills related to exploration, organization, recording and transmission of information through works of contemporary art.
Following a short theoretical introduction, an experiential workshop will be realized in order for participants to understand how ΕΜΣΤ invites its neurodiverse visitors to explore works that raise contemporary concerns, learn through the process of engaging with them, participate and collaborate.

A Site-specific mystery game as an educational tool for exploring Industrial Heritage

Enter the world of the 1950s in the atmospheric New Water gas Tower, where a mystery has disrupted the well-ordered life of the factory. This immersive experience invites the conference participants to examine clues and untangle motives in this industrial setting, following the storyline of an unsolved crime that has puzzled investigators. Will your team be the first to examine the evidence, uncover hidden motives, and finally bring the truth to light?
Following the immersive experience, participants will gather for a relaxed coffee discussion, reflecting on their findings and exploring insights into site-specific, experiential learning within the authentic industrial surroundings. This workshop combines historical intrigue, teamwork, and creative problem-solving in a space where history comes to life.
At the beginning of the workshop, participants will be introduced to the museum and its collection.

Maria Callas: Challenges, Difficulties, Trends. An educational programme through which participants discover the legacy of Maria Callas in an experiential way

Focusing on the great opera soprano Maria Callas and the concept of womanhood, participants will explore her life and work through a hands-on approach and artistic activities within the exhibition spaces of the Museum.
This programme includes a detailed guided tour, followed by an experiential workshop where conference participants will be divided into groups to engage with the myth surrounding the name of the great diva, investigating and analyzing the concept of an idol and other challenges using the journalistic material in the Museum's collection.
At the end, each group will highlight the challenges and difficulties faced by Maria Callas and connect them to contemporary issues, proposing solutions. What difficulties does a female artist face? How do the past and present relate? What role does journalism play in all of this? Will we be able to uncover these issues, suggest solutions, and explore current trends?
The National Bank of Greece - Historical Archive, a multipurpose center for documentation, research and education, opens its doors and conducts workshops

Discover Megaro Diomidis, a modern eclectic building built by the National Bank in the 1920’s in order to house its general archives. Following the completion of its renovation work, it has housed the Bank’s Historical Archive, a multipurpose center for documentation, research and education, from 2002 onwards.
Educational activities intended for challenging audiences will be presented through interactive workshops addressed to the participants of the ICOM CECA conference.
Stolen antiquities, peoples without memory

Is antiquities smuggling a crime? To whom do antiquities belong? Why is there illegal trade in antiquities? How do antiquity smuggling rings work? How is illicit trafficking in antiquities dealt with? Why does antiquities smuggling hurt collective memory?
During the workshop, participants will have the chance to discuss the above questions and explore the educational tools of the mobile cultural unit "Stolen antiquities, peoples without memory". Museum educators will present the outline of the educational programme and the components of the suggested dialogue with the audience, together with the variety of the material used. Divided in two groups, participants will also play the floor board game "On the antiquities smugglers trail", trying to solve two mysteries inspired by real cases, and help the stolen goods return to their place of origin!
At the end of the interactive workshop, participants will be introduced to the collections of the Epigraphic Museum, which actually hosts the mobile exhibition unit.
Th-ink: Graffiti as historical testimony and as damage to the ancient monuments: Engaging young people in heritage protection

Tour of the Ancient Agora and its museum on the occasion of the educational programme "Th-ink: Graffiti as historical testimony and as damage to the ancient monuments, of the Ephorate of Antiquities of the city of Athens".
The participants will follow two of the programme's routes and will be informed about the educational activities designed for the students, focusing on the many faces of the temple of Hephaistos and Athena, the best preserved temple of the 5th century. B.C., named "chronicle in stone" of medieval and early modern Athens, about the damages it suffered through time and measures taken for its preservation and protection.
